The Uptown Strutters are the most versatile, dynamic and professional musical group on the Western Slope of Colorado – boasting former touring keyboardist from world famous 70’s band Three Dog Night, Stevie Nicks and Prince. This experienced and festive 4/5 piece ensemble has performed a broad variety of all the popular music genres for over 20 years at 100’s of wedding/corporate events and is THE CHOICE of Colorado destination resort party planners to ensure successful quality and even memorable occasions.
The Strutters will seamlessly move from legitimate New York City night-club jazz and pop standards to Rock and Roll /soulful dance band mode depending on the flow of the party. They know what to play and when to play it and when to play with great energy and when to lay back – and most importantly allow the event to “have a life of its own”.
Featuring vocal chameleon Roberta Lewis – who can sing any/all styles with authenticity from Etta James to Stevie Wonder to Patsy Cline – Steve Cole (Roaring Fork Valley radio personality with a great Master of Ceremonies voice and more importantly a great witty repartee) – has a wonderful Louis Armstrong/Tom Waits vocal delivery and compliments both his and Roberta’s vocals with excellent Sax and Clarinet improvisations – all to a solid LH Bass RH Piano rhythm section of former Three Dog Night, Stevie Nicks and Prince keyboardist Dave Bluefield – and all is held together by the most inventive former Lake Tahoe show drummer Billy Harmon ( who also sings lead). When the event calls for it the group adds strong guitarist/vocals Dave Harding for rock and roll and country gigs.

A native of Hollywood, California, David Bluefield has enjoyed a pedigree of success in the entertainment business. An award-winning songwriter, he is a former WB Recording artist and touring keyboardist for supergroup Three Dog Night. He has also recorded and/or performed with Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Ringo Starr, Paul Anka, The Platters, and played the keyboard in a very famous scene in the Steven Spielberg’s movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” For more info: rockstarblue.com/credits.htm
Lead vocalist Roberta Lewis has entertained in the Aspen area for nearly 20 years with ‘The Sirens’ and has performed with John Denver, Tuck & Patti, and Dr. John. Her mastery of styles and broad vocal range make her voice at once indescribable and unforgettable as she switches from elegant jazz to soulful R&B in a heartbeat.
Long time radio personality and featured soloist Steve Cole is a veritable fountain of ideas on the sax, clarinet and keys. His remarkably rich voice allows him to emulate such greats as ‘Louis Armstrong’ and ‘Tom Waits.’ Additionally, he excels as a witty and charming Master of Ceremonies.
Billy was the house drummer at the Lake Tahoe Hyatt hotel and put on quite a show as a singing drummer while backing up the likes of Ann Margarat and Cher.
He is one of the most inventive drummers around with the highly developed skill set to keep the beat. Every nite every song is an adventure in exploration with Billy Dave and Steve.
Dave Harding is the Strutters designated guiarist for all gigs that require rock and roll and country. He is versatile as rhythm and lead as well as superior high harmonies.
125 people attended the 2017/18 New Years Event. Everyone commented that the “band was over the top!” And don’t forget last NYE we had the Jefferson Starship with Mickey Thomas to compare you with!
Personally, we’ve loved listening and dancing to the Strutters at Heathers. But the band was simply outrageously fantastic, and the addition of the guitar was awesome! We can’t wait until our home is finished and we can invite you to play at our parties!
When our daughter got married last June we lucked out with the greatest wedding band – The Uptown Strutters (formerly Aspen Broadband) – we were especially impressed by the impresario deluxe Steve Cole -sax, clarinet and vocal but wow what a great speaking voice for announcements – Steve’s rich and robust DJ delivery made my husband Everett and I think we were at a true Gala. The band knew what to play and when to play it and I can’t wait to recommend them to the fortunate Bride and Groom.
As the father of 5 daughters I am getting to know the wedding scene pretty well. Lauren was the second to tie the knot and I now know for sure what band I will hire for my next 3…BROADBAND! Not only did these guys ( and “broad”) understand the pacing of our party, they played all of our requests flawlessly with great musicianship and showmanship. But the coup de gras was when I called Dave just two days before the wedding requesting a father/daughter tune that I had googled and wanted to sing to my daughter as a new family tradition…I was all ready to go it alone or with a karaoke arrangement..but when I found out the key was too high Dave “volunteered” the band to do it with full backing accompaniment in the correct key for me…and suffice it to say ..not a dry eye in the house. great job Broadband, glad I made the connection!
Since we had hired broadband on the recommendation of 5-Star Events Coordinator Susan Nicholson, we didn’t really know what to expect. Well, not only did the band learn and flawlessly perform our requested song “That’s All” but their female vocalist Roberta Lewis actually sounded like a recording artist herself with her rendition of it. My new husband John is quite the Elvis fan and the band responded with several of the King’s greatest hits. Their variety continued to amaze as they segued from a crowd pleasing “We are Family” to fiddle tunes that got virtually everyone young and old out of their seats and onto the dance floor. It is always satisfying when expectations are met and surpassed, especially for one’s wedding. firstname.lastname@example.org
What a joy it was to have Broadband play at our Red Mountain wedding reception. As a music teacher, I so appreciated the band’s high-level of musicality and professionalism, and my husband and I both loved the versatility the group brings. Our guests were very impressed with the amazing talent displayed by all members of the band. Everyone from our young nephews to our grandparents thoroughly enjoyed the music – we all ended up on the dance floor at some point throughout the evening! With a group of 80 guests in a relatively small area, we were concerned that a band would be too overpowering, but Broadband was able to adapt, go with the flow, and set the tone for a wonderfully happy wedding party. Highly recommended!” email@example.com
I spoke with Dave off and on for the few months prior to my wedding and he put me totally at ease as we worked out the set list preferences and first dance and father/daughter choices..plus they played my favorite band Steely Dan and sounded even better than the original to me! They played a cross-section of tunes that related well to both my (younger) friends, my parents friends and our whole family, highlighted by a fun sing along “Those were the Days/We are Family” medley. Overall great.
For our corporate getaway and employee rewards program in Aspen, we hired (thru Big Jig Entertainment ) Broadband and elements thereof for 3 of our theme night events. Country nite was special with Steve Saylor rockin’ out on his fiddle, jazz nite was with the Uptown Strutters Trio ( smaller version of broadband ) who played elegant jazz standards for a quiet reflective dinner and we closed our final evening Awards nite with the entire 6 piece group that knocked our socks off! That Roberta Lewis is a chameleon of sorts with her dynamic vocal range on a variety of pop dance songs..Can’t wait till we can return and do it all over again! firstname.lastname@example.org
As an event coordinator in Aspen my one main concern for music and entertainment is consistency. I want to have certainty that with all of the myriad of things that a co-ordinator has to do that I do NOT have to worry one bit about the music. Broadband is my choice for reliability and dependability and their experience to know how to “read” the flow of a party. Satisfaction guaranteed. email@example.com
I specialize in providing entertainment for a wide variety of events in the Roaring Fork Valley. For me, “Strutters” is the perfect answer for any and all types of special occasions. I know for sure that they will convincingly play what is appropriate and do it with a style and professionalism that comes from years of experience and major talent to boot. They are my number one choice for dance music, dinner music, and all things in between.
David, please convey my sincere appreciation to the members of Broadband for their fabulous performance at my daughter’s wedding reception at the Little Nell Hotel on October 4, 2008. The band absolutely rocked and the guests danced with gusto until the last song ended. My only desire is that the band produces a CD for our continued enjoyment. Happy Holidays, and thank you for making our wedding reception a spectacular event!
My husband Hans and I have been hosting an annual party and we had always hired the Uptown Strutters with great success, but this year Dave suggested trying out their larger group (Broadband) and the outcome exceeded our expectations. The evening began with the elegant Jazz standards that morphed into some wild and fun country fiddle and then soulful Motown and Rock dance music to send everyone home happy. They even played a wonderful waltz for Hans and his mom (who had flown all the way from Vienna) to dance to. One of our guests was the aspenmoguls.com event planner rep. who commented that Broadband was “the best band in the the Roaring Fork Valley!” And if that wasn’t enough, the Strutters part of the band then ended up around our grand piano and we had an intimate and memorable group sing-a-long that was the cherry on the top of our best party yet! firstname.lastname@example.org
